He is now being lauded as a national treasure, which is perhaps a bit strong, but just shows how high the demand is for something comprehensible. That says something new and important or even old and important. That isn’t £7.50 to see in the Tate and that speaks a language a lot of us understand. Because I’m not sure how I feel about art just for the sake of other people who understand art.
